Fashion Cited -- Part 1: Pre Show

Last Friday night I was able to attend an outstanding event with an even more important purpose. All proceeds benefiting the Legal Hospice of Texas, Fashion Cited was an inspiring runway show featuring both emerging Dallas designers and international brands -- 17 fashion lines walked the runway in this event.

Located in the "Frontiers Of Flight" museum, this runway and charity event was destined to be a memorable show. While the display of talent was quite impressive and the exciting location dazzling, the charity cause was front and center all through the event.

The Legal Hospice of Texas, a non-profit organization, is constantly hard at work offering justice and representation free of charge to the less fortunate -- regardless of health or economic status. The Legal Hospice's mission is to "provide timely and compassionate legal services to low income persons diagnosed with terminal illnesses or HIV-disease".
In its 7th year, Fashion cited 2013 anticipated it's largest audience yet--and quite an audience it was! Offering a free buffet, open bar, and a diverse set of brands and designers, hundreds gathered for this annual show.

At most runway events I can usually find at least two designers who offer similar products or pieces; however, this was the first show I have attended that all designers were unique in their creations and each brands to their particular styling. Creativity was definitely not missing.

Fashion Cited 2013 boasted designers and brands such as
                                              - Brooks Brothers
                                              - Haggar Clothing Co.
                                              - Emmanual Tobias
                                              - Marek + Richard Underwear Co
                                              - Cathy Garcia
                                              - Francisco Flores, Inc.
                                              - Morgan Powell
                                              - It's Lynette Millinery
                                              - Jonathan Aparicio
                                              - Yomono
                                              - Solodky
                                              - Marquiel
                                              - Second Kiss Vintage Boutique
                                              - Bladi Duran Jeans
                                              - Mario Alberto
                                              - Hueso Outlaw
                                              - LaDaska Mechelle

My friend Thomas Garza helped me out by capturing some awesome pictures of the fantastic location, the runway practice, and the behind scenes action! This show was destined to be unlike any event I had ever attended, and is one that won't be forgotten!

Since the show was so large, there are far too many topics to cover in just one article! So, I hope you will join for my next segment on my favorite garments from each collection, extensive show photography, and designer interviews!!

Runway Prep

Preparation is always the hardest part. When it comes to runway shows and fashion events, I go all out in my outfits! This particular runway show and fundraiser is more exciting to me than most! Why? Because this is my first show to officially cover to share with all of my amazing fans! But right now, my problem is deciding what to wear?! I am debating hard between going with a sleek and clean 1920's style outfit or getting really gussied up in a 1950's style? It's such a hard decision, so I have accrued a bundle of inspiration images that are in one era or the other. Let me know which you like better! :)

P.s. Be sure to check out the Runway event's facebook page "Fashion Cited"

These things I dream about

We all have them, those items that we could never dream of affording, and finding, yet they still swarm our minds with ideas how pretty we could look in them. :P I have a problem, and this is just it. I always find myself stuck on silly outfit pieces -- that are outrageously priced-- and dream up all the exciting ways I could style it. Admit it, we all do it. But, what if...just maybe...somewhere out there, there was a look alike of that item or someone just happened to be selling theirs in the wrong place, for such a GOOD PRICE!! Well, I am notorious for searching out both of those scenarios. More often than not you can find a similar, identical, or exact piece you were looking for at a price that fits your budget. Here are some of my successful finds! (click through links!)

Lookbook x MaryAlice x Coach!

Hello All! I was recently approached by Lookbook.nu with an exciting offer -- to collaborate with Lookbook.nu and Coach to create a spring styled outfit featuring spring 2013 Coach heels.

When the Coach shoes arrived,  I couldn't have been more pleased. As soon as I opened up the electric orange shoe box with the gold embossed Coach emblem, I instantly fell in love with these great heels. If it is blue, I love it! ;)

These shoes are the perfect combination of blue, metallic, wood, and of course comfort! Long story short, I am very excited to share with you the outfit that I came up with to showcase these stunning Coach shoes! I do hope you enjoy and will lend me your HYPE. <3 These fabulous shoes can be found right here!
